Voigtländer Bessa II folding camera
This classic Voigtländer Bessa II has the Color-Skopar 3.5/105mm lens.
It clearly hasn’t been used for a while; cocking the shutter is a bit stiff, but it runs. The shutter speeds seem accurate by ear. Diaphragm good. The glass of the lens is clear and scratch-free. Some dust, which is normal for its age.
The folding mechanism works well. The bellows are intact. Looks light-proof (not tested with film). Focusing runs smoothly as it should.
Cosmetically, this Voigtlander Bessa 2 camera is unfortunately no longer at its best. The upholstery is in poor condition, some parts are missing or cracked. See pictures. In any case, this is a sought-after camera for collectors!
About this camera type:
This is the most famous model of the Bessa series. It is a folding camera with a coupled rangefinder. 34,500 Bessa 2s were made from 1950-1956 They were equipped with a Color-Skopar 3.5/10.5 cm; a Color Heliar 3.5/10.5 cm; or, from 1954, the rare and sought-after Apo-Lanthar 4.5/10.5 cm. The Compur-Rapid shutter fitted to the earlier models was replaced by the 1951 Synchro-Compur shutter. The accessory shoe does not appear until 1954.
